  • This is a post made mainly for two reasons, firstly to show off this awesome varsity jacket from FATEwear and secondly to answer a bunch of questions about blogging from Berry's new blog challenge. Skip to the credits after the questions if you don't care about my invaluable insight about SL blogging (sad)!

    1. Which electronic devices do you use to blog with? PC only. I don't own a tablet and blogging from the phone is tedious business.
    2. Do you have a mission statement for your blog, if so, what is it? Well I suppose the answer is the same as the few lines in the "about" page up there. I've been taking SL pictures since my rez day and I thought it would be cool to share all the good stuff I wear and/or use in said pictures. Plus it would be a shame to not spam you with pics of those really good looking pixels of mine (lol).
    3. How do you feel about blogs that use their platforms to spread negativity? I would like to say I don't get the purpose behind those posts but sadly I do. It's a fact that negative posts attract more views and even if there isn't any kind of ad revenue involved, there are people who enjoy the attention no matter the kind. That's not to be confused with tactful and constructive critique but that's quite rare.
    4. Are you a grammar junkie? Do you thoroughly check your blog for errors before posting and/or do you judge other people’s posts if they contain errors? I am doing the usual spellcheck for any typos (fluent in typonese) but sadly that won't catch any syntax errors and I do a lot of those. I would like to attribute them to English not being my first language but in reality it's just my hasty posting. Not to mention that spellcheck likes to change typos in certain words into something entirely different...(it's come godammit, come!). As for the judging, finding a really glaring one might amuse me but I don't consider typos a big deal in general.
    5. If you could switch blogs with another blogger who would it be? That's a tough one. I will go for Oakley's blog, I want to steal her ability to throw stuff on the av that don't seem like they would go together but always managing to make the end result look friggin amazing.
    6. Has your blog/blogging style evolved over the year(s)? How? Looking back I think my style has changed both in fashion terms and photography. I used to do a lot more pics in front of a screen instead of going to a sim but that has changed over the years. Regarding my style I used to go with more dark, "gothy" looks but that changed with time as SL fashion evolved with mesh, offering more options. I still enjoy doing them though.
    7. What is the most extraordinary thing that has happened to you because of blogging? I can't think of anything extraordinary but then again I'm not easily impressed anyway. I guess the thing that amazes me the most is every time I see a new dot flashing in my visitor map from a far distant place (yes I'm talking about you little dot from the middle of the Pacific ocean).
    8. When it comes to Second Life blogs, there are different styles: Fashion bloggers, Lifestyle & Travel bloggers, Informative bloggers, and more. Which style do you prefer and where do you feel your blog fits in?  I mostly follow fashion and H&G blogs although I do visit a couple travel blogs  in order to find new places. I don't follow any informative blogs because I know plurk and flickr will be all over any big news so I will find out from there.I would consider my blog a fashion one with a bit of H&G.
    9. What has blogging taught you? A bit of html. Still a noob though.
    10. Share your top 3 tips for new bloggers. Blog what you like, have pride in your work and keep it classy.

  • This is a post about surprisingly well dressed cyberpunk dudes, blog memes and books. I haven't written anything for a while here and once again Berry's Monday meme helped with my writer's block. This time you have to answer a few questions related to your literary preferences and since I'm a big fan of the cyberpunk genre,  I thought it was quite fitting for the pic I had ready.

    1. Are you a bookworm? I used to be quite the bookworm when I was younger (I started reading really early as a kid) but nowadays not so much.
    2. Which do you prefer: hardcover, paperback or electronic? Hardcover. They look better, smell better and they need no charging. I'm old school like that.
    3. Which book is your favorite? I don't really have a favorite book because I've liked so many over the years. I could say Lovecraft's works for their influence over their genre, Gibson's Neuromancer for pretty much the same reason and anything by Arthur Clarke but still there are so many more.
    4. Which children’s book is your favorite? This is easier to answer because despite all the books I 've read as a kid, two book series were my absolute favorites. The first was Three Investigators, a kid detective book series (prologued by the man himself, Alfred Hitchcock) that I was in love with. The second were of course the infamous Goosebumps.
    5. What’s the last book you’ve read? An old horror fiction classic called The King in Yellow. Blame HBO's True Detective for that.
    6. Name your top five favorite writers: This one is hard. I'd say H.P Lovecraft, Arthur Clarke, Edgar Allan Poe, Jules Verne and Philip K. Dick. There are many modern day writers I like but I prefer mentioning the classics since they pretty much defined their genres.
    7. Name a book that had a strong impact on you: Fifty shades of grey. I kinda knew people are stupid but 90 million copies later I was sure of it.
    8. Favorite & least favorite book genres? Well as you can tell from the answers above I'm a big fan of science fiction, mystery and horror. Non fiction bores me and I would choose torture over having to read any kind of romance novel.
    9.  Favorite & least favorite book-to-movie adaptations? Despite many claims to the contrary I really liked the way Lord of the Rings was adapted to the big screen. I'm very lenient with book-to-movie renditions because I realize the difficulty behind them but I have to say War of the Worlds was a really bad one (even as a loose adaptation). I just hate Tom Cruise too.
    10. Have you ever bought a book based on the cover alone? Yes, especially as a kid.
    11. Where do you usually buy your books? From the biggest bookstore in the city center. My parents used to take me there as a kid and it just stuck.
    12. Do you go to the library? No.
    13. How many books do you own? Several hundreds but I haven't read them all. I have a bookcase the size of a room wall which includes many of my late uncle's books. I don't think I will ever manage to read everything in there.
    14. If you were to write a book about Second Life, which topic would you focus on? SLex, duh.
Wow, that was a lot of writing! Now credits.

  • This a post about winter, awesome event stuff and a beautiful sim. Berry's blog keeps saving me from my writer's block with another Monday challenge. This time I get to answer a bunch questions about winter and it really suits all the awesome winter stuff I have bought in SL lately. Not only that but it was the perfect excuse to do pics in this new beautiful sim called "Yuki no yume", you should defintely visit it.

    1. What is the December/Winter season like where you live? Standard Mediterranean winter. Cold but not too cold and since I live near the sea I rarely get to see snow.
    2. When you think of winter, what’s the first thing that pops into your head?  Melomakarona! It's a traditional Greek dessert mainly made during the Christmas holiday season and believe me, it tastes good.
    3. Have you ever played any extreme winter sports? Pee...snow drawing?
    4. What do you like most about this season? Snow, gifts, food, holidays, cool clothing...what's not to like? Unlike summer that's probably my least favorite season, winter is pretty awesome.
    5. Do you celebrate Christmas, Hannukkah, Kwanzaa or another holiday during this time of year? Christmas but not in a religious way (not even close as far as I am concerned). It's more like an excuse to exchange gifts and eat food I can't cook myself.

  • This is a geeky post about geeky decor, geeky events and geeky memes. The Geeks n' Nerds event is open and it's full of geeky awesomeness. On top of that Berry, inspired from the event, has a new meme in her blog aiming to find out more about our geekiness. Geeky questions, answers and credits to follow.

    1. What do you consider yourself to be? Geek? Nerd? Dork? None of the above? All of the above? I can't really answer that for my self. What I can tell you though is that I have a lot of useless information/trivia stored in that head of mine so that may make me a nerd. I also love science fiction, I have played every cRPG worth playing in the past 15 years (Baldur's Gate still wins) and I have a huge pack of Marvel comics gathering dust somewhere. You decide.

    2. What was the first computer you ever owned? An old 386 back in the 90s. It was a gift from my uncle who got a newer one at the time and I was mostly using it to play the original Duke Nukem and Leisure suite Larry (yes, I was a little pervert).

    3. When and how did you first get on the internet? During the age of ICQ, trying to score chicks in my early teens.

    4. Which geek fandom do you subscribe to? I can't really subscribe to any fan group but I know I love the Star Wars expanded universe (comics, novels, games) and I used to like Marvel universe (the original one, not the crappy movies one) but I haven't really followed the latter for a long time.

    5. Star Trek or Star Wars? Since I am a sci-fi geek I like both but I am more of a SW fan. Not the typical SW fanboy though since (as mentioned before) I am not really a fan of the movies but I love the way darker and more interesting expanded universe. I mean you have this awesome source material with lightsaber duels, space knights, space mages and all you do in the prequels is make three crappy movies about boring space politics and Jar Jar Binks. I 'll pass. Also Han shot first.

  • This is a post about my new living room and memes of severe introspection. Strawberry posted another meme last Monday and I finally got to it one day before she posts her next. This time it is called the introspection meme and believe me,  I really tried to be seriously introspective but I failed miserably. Bunch of questions, answers and obviously introspective SL furnishing credits to follow.

    1. Regardless of your current number how old do you actually feel? I'm 28 and I feel 28 with the occasional geeky moments (they are a lot though).
    2. Which is worse, failing or never trying? I'd say never trying but only with carefully calculated risks. Recklessness just to say you tried something equals stupidity in my books.
    3. If the average life span was 40 years would you live your life differently ? Probably a bit differently, yes. It's not always a matter of choice though.
    4. Are you more worried of doing things right or doing the right things? That's a difficult one. I like to think I am doing the right things the right way and since I am always right and others are wrong, it's not that hard.
    5. Would you prefer to be a worried genius or a joyful simpleton? Worried genius, blissful ignorance isn't my kind of thing.
    6. Have you been the kind of friend you want as a friend ?Yes and no. Yes because I've been known to be honest with friends and speak my mind even if I come out as harsh to someone I care for. I expect the same from my friends towards me. No because I keep forgetting to unmute my phone and I'm really bad at returning calls. That's just annoying.
    7. Do you remember that time 5 years ago when you were extremely upset? Does it really matter now? No. It never does in the grand scheme of things.
    8. At what time in your recent past have you felt most passionate and alive? I ate a really good donut yesterday. I'm really passionate about my donuts.
    9. If you just won a million dollars, would you quit your job? Yes.
    10.  If you knew that everyone you know was going to die tomorrow, who would you visit today? People I don't know. I'm planning ahead.
    11. What do you feel is the difference between being alive and truly living? Well, the way I see it if you wake up and can't really form coherent words, your flesh is kinda peeling and all you can think about is delicious brains, you are not truly alive, you are just a zombie. The  truly living are those people outside with the delicious brains running for their ( true) lives. Just my two cents.
    12. If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make a mistake? Because mistakes suck. Most people I know never learn from their mistakes anyway.
    13. What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you? Pee in the shower. Oh and tell everyone in my RL about SL.
    14. If you could offer a newborn child only one piece of advice, what would it be? To develop its obviously superhuman powers of comprehension and perception in order to dominate the world one day. And hopefully remember who gave the advise when that day comes.

Damn thats was long! Now credits.

  • This is a post about memes, city centers, lakeside huts, vampire castles and medieval awesomeness. This week's "monday meme" from Berry's blog is about all those sims you love visiting and taking pics in SL. Since I have never really done any pics for this blog without my hairy mug in them I thought it was time to do just that for once.

The first sim I thought I'd share is the Mayfair sim. I'm pretty sure most of you know it already since it has been a favorite place for blog pics and I have used it myself quite a few times. The reason is not only the fact that it's fully mesh (unless I'm horribly mistaken) but also the success it has capturing the "city center" feel, perfect for fashion blog pics.

The second place in my list is Roche. It is an awesome rendition of a lakeside picturesque place with various really detailed buildings scattered all around, perfect for pics. From a rail station to a bakery and from this neat farm you see above to a bus stop, Roche is a sim begging to be explored.

Gehena Vampire clan is a sim I've only recently discovered from Ziki's blog and that's the reason I haven't really used it for any pics yet. It features a really detailed medieval/fantasy style of town with this badass castle towering over it. It's perfect for fantasy/RP kind of pics and I'm sure I will be using it a lot in the near future.

Last but not least, the beautiful Venexia sim. Another vampire RP sim, Venexia captures perfectly the style and mood of renaissance Venice. Its design is so awesome that everytime I am in it I feel like I am playing an Assassin's Creed game! A "must visit" both for photographers and RPers.

I have to say I really had a hard time picking just four because I can think of so many other places I love visiting. Insilico, Virtual Decay, Rougham, Looking Glass to name a few, so many places in my list not only for their looks but also because they bring back memories from a time my SL was more about playing and exploring than it is now .

  •

This is a post about fears, me being a wuss and lots of water. Don't let the title fool you, this is not a post about anal sex. It is Tuesday so that probably means two things, SL is being a bitch with the rolling restarts and Berry has posted a new meme/blog challenge. This one is called "the Haunted meme" and it's about letting the world know about one of your fears (accompanied with a pic of course). It can be anything from heights and spiders to Cher and the lack of lube so I had to put a little thought on that. A lot of fears came to mind but most of them were mental and seemed too common and rational (death, old age, loosing your mind) so I went for the one thing that makes me uneasy for no apparent reason. Deep, dark water.

At this point I have to clarify that I'm in no way afraid of the sea since I live in a country with literally thousands of islands and I've been swimming since before I even remember myself. I can trace the first time I really felt that uneasy feeling back when I was 16 and on holidays alone with a bunch of friends for the first time without parents. We were staying for a few days in a small island and naturally we were spending most of our time on the beach. The locals have told us not to wander too far from the shore line because the waters deepened suddenly due to an underwater chasm but of course me and two other friends didn't pay much attention and we started drifting while talking about stuff 16 year old dudes talk. Wasn't long before we realised we have drifted a little too far from the shore and that was when we noticed the drastic change in the color of water around us. Even if it was still day the water was close to pitch black (not even the deep blue kind) and at that exact moment it hit me (my friends too) and we started swimming back without delay.

It wasn't the kind of fear that scares you and causes panic, it was more like that uneasy feeling creeping slowly inside and a voice in your head telling you "you really should NOT be here". Suffice to say we reached shallow water panting from the distance we had to swim. After asking around that night we found out that a few miles further from that area is one of the deepest parts of the Mediterranean. We never went to that beach again!

I've caught myself thinking about what exactly gave me that feeling back then everytime I look at deep "open sea" water. At first thought the fear sure seems irrational since sharks around here are a really rare sight, the weather was good and there was no chance Great Cthulhu could be sleeping below me! I can only guess it is the fear of the unknown, the feeling that on the slim chance something is lurking below, you will never see it and even if you do you are way out of your element to do something about it.That said I've had a blast going night swimming  many times since then because what good fears are if you never try to conquer them. Just don't go too deep...

  • Be thankful guys for Berry's Monday memes or you would be getting a lot more boring walls of credits! This time I'm going to answer a bunch of weird questions that any stalker would like to know. Before that though I want to say I did a little happy dance when I saw Mr. Truth finally decided to make hair for guys (you can see it in the pic above)...about time!

    1. Which was the last sim you visited? : Baja Norte beach, to do the aforementioned pic
    2. Does your avatar look like the real you? It definitely looks better! I try to maintain some resemblance like facial shape, stubble, skin tone but I could do with my AV's six pack and the ability to have full body tats at whim!
    3. Do you wear underwear underneath when out and about on the grid? Usually commando, except that one time in that strip club with the animal print (don't ask).
    4. If you won a million linden dollars what would be the first thing you buy inworld? Probably land to setup my own store and making it a sim for photographers/bloggers.
    5. Have you ever bought something and then realized afterwards that you had already owned it from before? No. My inventory is a totally unsorted mess but somehow I have avoided that.
    6. Have you ever done anything in Second Life that would be considered illegal in real life? Indecent exposure, all the time.
    7. If you could go on a date with any other avatar who would it be? My FAlt in the making, she understands me.
    8. Who in your opinion is the greatest avatar to ever SLive? Philip Linden, since you know...he made this.
    9. What is the most embarrassing thing you've ever done inworld? NSFW stuff in the wrong IM box, more than once too.
    10. If your avatar had a mind of its own, what would you think it would say to you? "Dude...shave."

     And now credits!

  • It's time for my dorky moment of the week and once again I'll use one of  Berry's memes/blog challenges as an excuse. This one is about creating a movie poster for your SL avatar (RL inspired or not) and that's what I tried to do in the pic above. It's obviously inspired by "The 40 year old virgin" movie and I chose it because I'm totally a SL virgin too, I've never seen SL genitals and I think "Bukkake bliss" is a sim about Japanese cuisine (also that poster was one of the few I could do with my inferior PS skills)! • I'm back and this time I once again decided to write about a bunch of stuff I do in my SL that you totally need to know (not). As you may have guessed already this is another meme picked up from Berry's blog and this time it's about stuff we do in our SL that we aren't particularly proud of.but we still do them. So these are my SL guilty confessions.

    1. I have never done a proper inventory sorting (nor I intend to). I mean I occasionally delete all the demos and some old stuff but I don't have any organising folders in my inventory (like clothes, hair etc). When I want to find something I just use the search feature although it's not always successful. The reason I don't bother with it is simple...ain't nobody got time for that.
    2. I'm a proud owner of a folder full of freenises. I have kept it from my noob days along with most of the "freebie dungeons" stuff because I'm nostalgic like that.
    3. I don't have "payment info on file". Simply because I don't want to and I seriously doubt the recent changes on SL TOS will make me change my mind.
    4. I have literally hundreds of outfits saved but I only wear them once or twice. It sucks since I really like most of them but I can't be bothered looking through them to find the one I want. I usually wear one starting with the letter A since they are the ones on top of the outfit list.
    5. I have a female shape, I'm using mostly for making poses and doing pics. I'm seriously considering buying mesh boobs for it because you know...boobs.

  • I was just drinking my Saturday morning coffee, sitting on my desk trying to find a title for this blog post when I remembered Berry posted a new SL blog meme during the week. Problem solved, now I have a title and also the opportunity to reveal my grumpy "old man" side to you! The new meme is called "my SL pet peeves" and it's pretty self-explanatory, list the five things you hate the most in your second life. Grumpy rant to follow!

    1. Random "Hi" messages : Whoever has me in their plurk friends has probably seen me whine about this more than once. Seriously though if you are someone I don't know or have never interacted with (plurk, flickr), DON'T message me in SL with a plain "Hi, Hello, Hallo, Allo" or whatever. Do you go and stand in front of strangers in the street just saying "Hi" and then stare at them in RL??? I bet not (and if you do seriously don't message me ever, you are a creeper). State your business and I will most likely, happily reply.
    2. Mass Teleport spam : I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in that. We all have (or had) that one (or more) annoying friend in our list who probably works as PR in a SL club and constantly sends out mass TP's to all of his/hers list. Well guess what dumbo, I don't care if that awesome DJ is spinning right now in your club, that's what group notices are for! When I see an IM from you,  I expect it to be an actual IM to me and not some random TP. First step (after telling you) is hiding, second step, delete (likely the latter).
    3. Text speech : If you message me with something like this " Hi, cn U teL me whr U got ur shape? I wnt it lols!" I will ignore you. All I see is "Curjsallfm%43%5246" gibberish, learn to type. By the way that was an actual message I got recently.
    4. People who can't read : From experience and lot of profile perving they may fall into the above category too. That's another major pet peeve of mine, when I clearly state in my profile that in case of failed deliveries or requests (from people I don't have in my FL), you should contact me with a  NOTECARD , you simply adhere to that simple written rule and do it! If you want to be a rebel (YOLO) do it your way, but you will definitely be ignored.
    5. Bling : Not much to say about that one. Maybe the SL thug life chose you blingy dude/chick but I'm sure I didn't choose to have it in my screen, instant derender.
Grumpy rant over, seriously despite all these I'm a really friendly guy, not kidding! Now to the important stuff...

  • This is the second meme I'm doing in just a few days, I must be sick! Once again picked up from Berry's blog (she is on a meme roll lately), it's called "the procrastination meme" and this time I'm going to copypaste ten questions you never actually asked me and I will post the answers to them so I can call all of you nosy. I can't be a total procrastinator though so I'm also going to post a pic (it may be above the text but I wrote that before I posted the pic) of me dressed all fancy, wearing the new Jeremy skin from Fruk available at  Skin fair '13. Rant and credits to follow.

    1. What is the rez date for your current SL Avatar that you use most often? Alex1985 Diabolito
      July 15, 2009
    2. Where was the first place you made friends as a newb and got to know people in Second Life? Back in my noob days SL search would display places by highest trafic. I ended up in some nude beach sporting an awesome black speedo from the freebie dungeon, getting bitten by "Bloodlines" vampires (yes vamps in a beach) like crazy.
    3. Where do you spend most of your SL time now? Cyn city shopping sim on my sky platform
    4. Who is your closest friend in Second Life? (only pick one) Eve Leroux
    5. What is the most favorite thing in your inventory? (only pick one) Ugh, I have way more than just one but if I have to choose I 'd say my facial hair layer from Cheer No, it never comes off.
    6. The last thing you purchased in Second Life? A neat leather chair from HANDverk
    7. What color clothing does your avatar wear most often? Brown
    8. Do you prefer to walk, run or fly? Walking, because I look cool like that
    9. What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done in SL? I once went to a noobie kind of sex RP place, where most males were wearing "Call me Master" tags, with a tag saying " Master tags are stupid". It didn't end well. I've also shot people with sperm bolts coming from an awesome huge sparkly penis, I have in my inv (not copypasta from Berry, true story). I'm mostly boring though.
    10. Who would you like to play YOU, in the movie of your SLife? Joseph Gordon-Levitt but he'd have to stop shaving for a few days
Ok, enough procrastinating (to whomever invented spellcheck, you're awesome) time for style credits.

  • I admit that I'm really bad at following all these memes and challenges going on in SL blogs. Yesterday though I stumbled upon this meme post on Strawberry Singh's blog and it seemed like a really fun idea. So here are my seven SL facts you probably don't really want to know but I will put them before the credits so you will have to see them anyway (evil laugh).

    My 7 SL facts :

Fact #1 : I'm a hermit in SL. You have probably heard other SLers saying that too but it's true, I rarely leave my sky platform unless I go shopping, take a pic or fall from it (I fall a lot).

Fact #2 : "Sleepy" typo frenzy. The few people I actually DO hang out with in SL are in completely different timezones so in order to see them I stay awake way more than I should. This results in a massive amount of "sleepy" typos if I'm in chat during that time and an insane amount of coffee consumption next morning.

Fact #3 : Younger than I look. I'm in SL since the summer of '09 but in truth I'm way younger than that. I have taken really long breaks (no logging in at all) so my true SL age is 2 years old which is a good excuse for my occasional noobness.

Fact #4 : I hate my full SL name. When I made the account I didn't plan on staying long (made it because of an article I was writing about SL at the time) but seriously who puts freakin dates in their names (me apparently). On the bright side I get a good laugh at quite a few SLers with poor observation skills over the years who have asked me my age.

Fact #5 : Skins and eyes loyalist. While I do change my outfit in SL almost daily, I very rarely change my skin and eyes. I will try different ones for specific looks and pics but I always have my "regular" skin and eyes that I change 1-2 times a year at most.

Fact #6: I love SL photography. It's the first thing I miss everytime I take a long break and my flickr account (well, the old one before it got deleted for no freakin reason) was the same age as my avatar. Over the last year I have even started trying my hand at making poses for CnS e-motion (shameless self promo).

Fact #7 : I've had pixel sex once. With system layer socks on. White system layer socks. It was good.
